🍳 Learn to Make Okonomiyaki with Chef Rumi from Yo-Jo-Kun 🇯🇵
Join me at the Culinary Annex in Des Moines on Sunday, November 2nd, from 2–5pm for a hands-on cooking class where we’ll make Okonomiyaki — Japan’s beloved “savory pancake” (or as I like to call it, a Japanese pizza!).
You’ll learn the art of creating this comforting street food from scratch, from the flavorful batter to the perfect ingredients that make it uniquely yours. Layered with flavor and texture, it is made from a mix of finely shredded cabbage, green onion, and your choice of savory fillings, it’s bound together in a light, tasty batter and then grilled to golden perfection.
Topped with tangy okonomiyaki sauce, creamy mayo, bonito flakes, and seaweed, each bite is a perfect balance of sweet, salty, and umami.
Along with the pancake, we will be making homemade Miso Soup and a refreshing Choregi Salad (Korean seaweed salad). All materials and ingredients are provided, so just bring your curiosity (and your appetite).
