Turkeyfoot Hops
Turkeyfoot Hops was founded in 2017 on the Maassel family farm located in Henry County, Ohio, approximately 40 minutes southwest of Toledo, Ohio. The Maassel’s have owned and operated the family homestead since 1890 and have a rich tradition of hard work finished off with a cold brew.
Turkeyfoot Hops is a member of the Ohio Hop Growers Guild and is abiding by the newly set forth quality control standards established to assist farmers in producing high quality hops for brewers to use. Currently we have four hop varieties planted and we are looking to expand our yard to accommodate continued demand for quality locally grown hops with the necessary variety needed to brew delicious beer.
2018 Season Hop Varieties
Cascade: Originating from the USDA-ARA breeding program, Cascade is an aroma-type cultivar bred in 1956 and released in 1972. It was developed by open pollination of a Fuggle seedling. Cascade is the most popular variety in craft brewing and is known for having a unique floral, spicy and citrus character with balanced bittering potential.
