DID YOU KNOW!?
July is national Bison month!!🦬 Here are a few fun facts about Bison you may not know! (Along with a few pictures of one of our studley bulls at the moment🤩)
1. Bison are North America’s largest land mammal.
A mature bull can weigh up to 2,000 pounds and stand over 6 feet tall at the shoulder!
2. They’re surprisingly fast!
Despite their massive size, bison can run up to 35 mph—faster than most people realize.
3. They’re built for harsh winters.
That thick shaggy coat isn’t just for looks. Bison naturally withstand brutal winter temperatures by growing an incredibly insulating coat and using their massive heads to plow through deep snow to reach grass.
4. Bison meat is naturally lean and nutrient-dense.
Compared to many cuts of beef, bison is often leaner while still being rich in protein, iron, zinc, and vitamin B12, making it a delicious and nutritious choice.
5. Bison were once nearly extinct.
From an estimated 30–60 million roaming North America in the 1800s, their population dropped to just a few hundred. Thanks to ranchers, tribal nations, conservationists, and dedicated producers, bison have made an incredible comeback.
Bison really are such amazing and powerful creatures. We’re so lucky to get a front row seat to their beauty!
