Soo… yesterday I had one of those moments that happen in unexpected but almost miraculous ways 🤷🏽‍♀️.

The young lady in the picture, her name is Mara; she’s Liberian. She came all the way from Chicago yesterday and has been following us for years, so she knew a lot about my journey.

As soon as I came out to greet her, she screamed and gave me the biggest hug and was soo happy to be there! This was my first time meeting her, but she felt like family. Heartwarming is an understatement.

She ordered food, hot sauce, and merch for her family. She even left us a generous review on Yelp, too.

We don’t always know the people we inspire or people who are going along the journey with us, but this is a reminder to keep pushing through whatever your journey is because you won’t know until you do. And when you do, it’ll be worth it.

THANK YOU, MARA. What an absolute honor and privilege. We hope to see you again soon!

We’ve shared why Groundnut Stew is one of our guests’ favorites, but not much about the process... yet. 🔥🥩🥜

We make it through a careful two-step process: tender beef is simmered with onions and warm spices, while a rich peanut base is prepared on its own before everything is brought together into one comforting pot. It’s a slow process, but that’s exactly what makes it special.
