Happy National Hamburger day! I heard there was a brand new burger spot in Southgate called Bangin’ Burgers, so I had to stop out there and check it out.

They’ve got a huge menu, and right away the prices felt like a pretty good value. I grabbed a double cheeseburger for $9.99, and you can add a combo with fries and a drink for $4.95.

The service was super fast too. I had my food within about 5 minutes of ordering, and everything came out hot and fresh.

Bangin’ Burgers is located at 13680 Pennsylvania Rd, Southgate, MI 48195.

Brand new Burger spot! Bangin burger on Fort and Pennsylvania! I've been hearing everybody talk about it so I stopped by tonight to try it and film a little review. I'll be dropping a reel soon! I won't spoil it but I will say I was surprised.

Bates Hamburgers has been a Livonia institution for a long time, so I stopped by to check out their double cheeseburger.

They’re doing it old school — sliders with onions, pickles, ketchup, mustard, steamed the classic way, all out of one of those little white buildings that just feels like it’s been there forever. The smell of onions hits you as soon as you pull into the parking lot, and let me tell you… these burgers deliver.

This is the chicken gyro from Mykonos in Taylor, Michigan. I’ve been going to Mykonos for a lot of years. Great food, great people, and one of those local spots that’s always been solid.

They’ve got a big menu with soups, breakfast, dinner specials, and of course, a really good gyro. If you’re looking for a good local coney-style spot in Taylor, Mykonos is definitely worth checking out.

Tonight I stopped out in Wyandotte to visit Holy Cow Creamery, and I can see why this place has been popping up online. They’re making some seriously delicious ice cream over there.

I ordered the Mackinaw Peanut Butter Fudge ice cream sundae with hot fudge, whipped cream, and a cherry on top. Peanut butter, fudge, ice cream, hot fudge… that’s a dangerous combination in the best way possible.

This is the kind of place that just feels like summer. You grab an ice cream, hang out for a few minutes, and enjoy one of those simple local spots that makes the season feel a little better.

Tonight I was out in Trenton for dinner and stopped by Mr Shawarma & BBQ

I did a review here last month, and I’ve already been back three times since. These bowls are addictive and have been one of my favorite things lately.

You can choose chicken, beef, or a combo over a bed of rice, then build it with your choice of veggies. They top it with hummus, garlic sauce, and your choice of sauce, and it comes with a drink for $9.99.

Might be the best deal in town.

The employees there are the best, too. Super cool people, and they even let me take their picture while I was there.

Today I’m out in Trenton, Michigan at Shong Hey, located at 3480 West Road, checking out one of Downriver’s old-school Chinese restaurants. This week I tried five different items from the menu, including a local Metro Detroit favorite: almond chicken.

Downriver and the Metro Detroit area are known for almond chicken, so I wanted to see how this spot stacks up. If you grew up around here, you probably already know this is one of those comfort food dishes people have strong opinions about.
