Hidden Creek Homestead

Hidden Creek Homestead We raise miniature Jerseys for other family homesteads. They are the perfect little family milk cow. (In my opinion) 😊

I will lead a quiet life, and mind my own affairs. I will work with my hands so that I may walk properly and be dependent upon no one.

This video was taken a couple years ago. Sophie was waiting patiently to be milked. We no longer have goats. I love how their real mom just walks by like they ain’t her kids! šŸ˜‚ Sophie is a good cow. She’ll take care of anyone’s kids.

Spring was never really my favorite. I’ve always been an Autumn girl at heart. It seems I’m changing…the older you get, the more you see the beautiful things in every season.

I look forward to Spring now, ( Even as bipolar as she can be) Because this picture says it all. And if I could only pick one word to describe it, the word would be Freedom.

This pic marks the beginning of harvest season 2026 for us. Which means we will be busy from now until the end of fall, Foraging, gathering, picking, jarring up all the things. Making teas, tinctures, salves and medicines.

The deeper we get into this life the more I see God in every moment… in every living thing. He abundantly gives. We just need to open our eyes to it.

I’m afraid we’ve lost so much in the name of convenience, instant access and gratification.

We’ve lost Work ethic, lessons about real life, community, the feeling of accomplishment, and so many valuable life skills.

This loss (in my opinion) leads us to dependency not freedom.

I will choose this life every single day for the rest of my life.

This picture embodies who we are and is only part of what we do to stay less connected to outside conveniences.
