Today we celebrate National Ag Day by recognizing the dedication and hard work behind feedyard operations, the final step in raising high-quality beef.

From early mornings to late nights, feedyard teams are focused on animal care, nutrition and efficiency. Every ration is carefully balanced, every pen is managed with intention and every decision is made with both the animal and the consumer in mind. It is a combination of science, stewardship and grit.

Feedyards play a vital role in the food system, ensuring cattle are healthy, comfortable, and well-fed while responsibly using resources and supporting rural communities.

On National Ag Day, we honor the people who keep these operations running and the commitment they bring to feeding a growing world.

Total beef production under Federal inspection for the week ending Saturday, February 22, 2025 was estimated at 491.1 million lbs. from an estimated 563,000 head. That is up 0.4% from last week and no change from a year ago.
% of total cattle slaughtered by class; Cows -- 18.0%. Bulls -- 1.4%
