Zombz says, "time to molt!". The hens have decided it's time to grow new feathers before Winter hits, so they're taking a break from laying to do that! We'll have a limited amount of eggs for a few weeks, so get those orders in now so we can save up some for you! Thanks! 👩‍🌾🐚

As you might be aware, I have been trying to grow anything out here, so far I've had very little success, a few tomatoes, last year I grew some sweet corn but it got ruined by bugs. Everything else has just failed. This year, I didn't start any plants early, didn't buy any seeds or plants. In MID-JULY I threw some seeds in the ground, there's cucumbers to harvest from seed in just 5 weeks, there's pumpkins & watermelons growing & tomatoes flowering. 🤔 Hmm, I feel lied to my whole life, "start seeds & plant early or lose out" , but that's not actually the case, wait til July, throw them down & get veg! 🤷‍♀️ Who knew, I'm filing that under fu**ed up things I've learned about farming . 👩‍🌾🐚 (Pic of our zombie chicken! Commercial egg recall! THIS IS WHY WE DO NOT WASH OUR EGGS,we recommend washing with warm water just before using, keeping the bloom intact .🥚Know where your food comes from. Farm fresh! 👩🏽‍🌾🐚
⚠️The current CDC Salmonella Outbreak is linked to commercial shell eggs (both white and brown cage-free varieties) that undergo standard commercial washing and processing.
*The Outbreak Source: Traced to commercial production facilities (such as recalled eggs from Midwest Poultry Services), which commercially wash and package eggs for retail sale.
*Washing and Contamination: Commercial washing removes the natural protective outer cuticle of the egg, and while it cleans the shell, internal contamination or improper washing/handling parameters can sometimes allow bacteria like Salmonella to pe*****te or persist when hens are infected.
*Current Action: Millions of cartons of commercially processed shell eggs have been recalled. Check your refrigerator for cartons with matching best-by dates (July 20, 2026, to August 17, 2026) and specific plant codes.

🤣 True! I'm bruised & battered by bucks this week, they decided to go in rut, (heat) and it's been hard to separate them out, especially when they weigh as much as you do and there's 6 to deal with! They have their own pen now & everyone's way happier!! 🐐🐐

Been working hard on things around here, teaching goats where to eat, finishing off our grow out chicks, got only 3 more to add to the flock! Hens have been on a little" it's too hot for that -ish-" break, laying minimal eggs. We've had several trees down, takes time to break those all down & chop up. We'll have to install the parlor stove for some free Winter heat, not all bad!
