Rittenhouse Farms Jesus. Family. Self-Sufficiency. Sustainability. Cherokee/Choctaw. America. Agriculture. In late summer, we harvest seeds to grow in late winter for our gardens.

Our homestead, Rittenhouse Farms, is dedicated to using our free time and effort to further agriculture- simply because it’s our passion. We plant flowers and native milkweed to encourage endangered honeybees and butterflies to our property (and have hatched our own butterflies), strive for a more self-sufficient lifestyle that includes growing and preserving our own food, practice sustainable agr

iculture, raise chickens for free-range eggs, and grow fruit and nut trees as well! Plant starts are offered for sale, along with fresh fruit, nuts, and vegetables when in season at our farmstand (along with many other homemade goodies produced from the bounty of our homestead). I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas with friends, family and good food! My Christmas was a little different this year! Because of the cold temperatures that arrived right after Thanksgiving and the dump of snow we received, getting up in the loft for house decorations was impossible! So, other than the tree, I decided to have a simple Christmas by making paper crafts from long ago! Get yourself some hot coffee, tea, or chocolate and enjoy this relaxing video! God bless!

It's been a rough couple of weeks on the homestead. I'm in the same season of my life as the leaves; changing from colorful and bright on the outside to cold and muted on the inside. It's a change we will all have to go through, but are never prepared for. I've worked very hard the past couple of weeks to put the gardens to bed for the winter, and to harvest the last of our abundance. Join me to see what we ended up with the first week of November, and let's make some copycat Panera squash soup!
