Today was quite the day. Really made me sit back and realize how blessed I am. We bought this place 4 years ago. In that time we have remodeled two bathrooms, the laundry room, all with heated floors!, finished the basement and built Scott his mancave, built my greenhouse, got the ranch up and producing our own beef, chickens and vegetables. We really have accomplished a lot in a short amount of time.

None of that would have been possible without God blessings, and good people helping to move this vision I have forward.

So I just want to thank all the people who sweated and bled to make this dream a reality!

We’ve come a long way baby! (No before picture - just the updates!)

This is why beef is so expensive. $3.54 for live weight not even grown out. From live weight to packaged, you get roughly 50% (hide, bones, head, feet, guts). So if you have a 1200lb steer you’re lucky to get 600lbs of beef. So sale price on beef is about double the 3.54, making it 7.08 a pound just to buy from a rancher. At break-even.

Made two trips to the home stores for parts and supplies today. We still got a fair amount done at the ranch!

New planter boxes built. One filled with corn and pea starts. The other still needs some more soil and it will be green beans once I transfer all those starts. Tubs moved around. Potatoes moved around. Plants rearranged in the green house to allow more plants on the shelves. Watered everything in the green house. Also got the freeze dryer going with 4 trays of sliced strawberries and two trays of sliced bananas.

Finished the retaining wall (not me, but a friend!) Fixed the chicken water for the 1000th time. Filled all the animals water tubs. Collected a ton of eggs!

Tried to spray the front drive for weeds leading up to our gate, however the battery cables on the gator sprayer are bad. So another fix for another day. Stick a fork in me, I’m done! 🤣

The greenhouse seems to be really taking off finally! Seems they grow 6” a day now.

The green house is in full swing! I’ve got some more planters arriving soon. Ive been planting slowly so I can keep up.

Anyone need green tomatoes?? Or jalapeños? Or lettuce (spinach went to seed while i was out of town so couldn’t stop it) Those items are ready now. Also tons of basil if someone wants to make pesto sauce. Cucumbers will be reading an about 2 weeks.

And of course we have tons of eggs!

I’m looking for part time help near Joplin, Mo on a small 15 acre ranch. Like 1 day a week. Looking for someone I don’t need to babysit. I assign you tasks and you get them done. You need some experience on a ranch.

Must be good with animals and not aggressive with them. My animals are all treated with respect and kindness. However, you must be in charge, so no one gets hurt. You can’t be afraid of them.

Experience with: Fixing barbed wire fence, spraying pastures, putting out hay when needed, planting, weeding, animal care (administering meds/wormer, etc as needed). Must have tractor experience (running it, not working on it). Would be great if you had a little experience building things. (Framing, drywall, plumbing, electrical). Seems there is always something that needs to be repaired or built here. Also processing / butchering of chickens and hogs helpful

I’ve got cows, horses, goats, a pig, chickens, dogs, cats etc. It’s a ranch.

You can send me your resume to: [email protected] or send me a message with your experience.

Selling shares of beef. Scheduled for processing March 19th. Deposit of 50% due at time of order. Balance due at pick up.

Side or 1/2 is $2,500 including processing. 1/4 is $1,1250. Based on the last processing we expect about 600lbs of beef. So roughly $8 a pound net.
