Mi Tierra Ranch Mi Tierra Ranch Mi Tierra Ranch is the culmination of a boyhood dream while growing up in San Antonio, Texas.

I think all young Texans dream of having a ranch and cattle and it was no different for Cynthia and I. Although we were born and raised in Texas and educated at Texas A&M (1973) - Joe, and SMU (1973) - Cynthia, Baylor Medical School and Residency - Houston; the winds of change, fate and mission led us north of the Red River to Joplin Missouri (1982). d that year. "Mi Tierra", (my land or land of my origin) seemed an appropriate name considering our south Texas heritage and Cynthia's degree in Spanish. Longhorns seemed only appropriate for Texans and for a Cardiovascular Surgeon advocating a healthy lifestyle in an age of intense scrutiny and blame directed at red meat for the nation's high incidence of heart and vascular disease. The first longhorns were purchased from Frank Doherty of Fort Scott, Kansas. More cattle, Bovine Breeding and Marketing advice were added from Darrol Dickenson. Significant involvement in the early years of the TLBAA World Show program (1988 - 1992) and cattle judging clinics led by Dr. Bob Kropp, Dr. Randal Grooms and Dr. Bill Able strongly influenced our perception of structural and functional correctness in our breeding programs.
