Bearing Fruit Farms is a small Farmstead in Dickson, Oklahoma. We subscribe to regenerative farming, and raise quality eggs, produce and pastured meats.

We are currently taking enquiries for our 2025 CSA family.

More baby chicks! Our fall flock of meat birds arrived today 32 CornishX chicks. Woo Hoo!

Happy Birthday!! About a month ago one of our Turkish Naked-necked Hens started getting out of our electric netting. After repeated attempts to keep her in we decided to leave her be. About two weeks ago we discovered her nest and a clutch of 18 eggs. … Well … today the first chick hatched. Happy Birthday, little chick!

We move our sheep to a new paddock twice a week. Most times it is a quick move. Occasionally we need to make a longer move between pastures. Today was one of the longer moves. But the sheep follow along pretty well.

This weeks build is another sheep shelter. The sheep shelter #2 (which was also the goat shelter) didn’t hold up well to the sheep. The sheep like to push and rub on the shelter and a couple wind storms did it in. This one is more bare bones, but is more reinforced so we will hopefully get more use from it.

Today’s project: Replace the Chickshaw’s wheels

In May, one of the wheels on our Chickshaw taco’d to the point of no return. I finally got the new wheels ordered and replaced. All in all, the Chickshaw has served us well and I am hoping these wheels will give us several more years of service.

One of my favorite times of the year. I love making a bowl of yogurt with our homemade raw yogurt, some granola and fresh blackberries from our farm. .

Yesterday was a big day on the farm. We ear tagged the lambs and banded the wethers. So not necessarily a good day for the ram lambs.

We picked up our “bee nuc” yesterday from Texas Bee Supply. This morning Michelle installed the bees in our new hive.

We finally moved our new hive out to the bee yard. The hive is my own design. I combined several design ideas from HorizontalHive.com. The hive holds 30 standard Langstrum frames, uses oil pans for natural beatle control and is insulated for better temperature control. Michelle and my granddaughter painted the flowers on the front.
