Last weekend your 2026 Massachusetts Ms Agriculture USA Anne McGinty was able to drop off a few gifts for the Dighton toy drive. Dightons Police and Fire Departments do an amazing job with this event every year. Anne still has a few donations to make but she wanted to share this event because it’s so important to her. And since Oakie ran to get in the photo we had to share!

Happy Birthday to Captain Henry Hall who was born on this day in 1761. In addition to being a Revolutionary War veteran, Hall is credited with initiating the commercial cranberry industry here in Dennis, Mass.

in 1816, Hall observed that the wild cranberries in his bogs grew better when sand blew over them. He began transplanting cranberry vines and spreading sand on them. When others heard of Hall's technique, it was quickly copied. Continuing throughout the 19th century, the number of growers increased steadily.
