Summerset Stables - located in Dillsburg, PA - Is now accepting new students for our Hands on Horsemanship Program! Jump into learning about horses from the ground up! A great opportunity for the horse crazy kid. Low key, low pressure lessons on the ground and in the saddle, our program aims to create the next generation of solid, well-rounded Horsemen and Horsewomen.

What you'll find in our program...

~Emphasis on safety and ethical treatment of horsess
~Balanced focused riding lesson that help build confidence

My Goodness has it been a busy April! Bridles and Bunnies was beautiful day and lots of fun for the littles. We love giving the community the ability to come meet our staff and horses and have a "first horse encounter"

Bittersweet day today. Mr Brody left for retirement today. He’s done an awful lot in his lifetime- racing, eventing, stadium jumping, dressage and being a lesson horse. His goofy personality will most certainly be missed but he’s ready to enjoy the easy life he deserves back with his mom Tracey. It definitely feels like the end of an era - he’s been here at Summerset for 5years. Stay out of trouble, Pigeon ❤️

Good Afternoon everyone! While it's not publicly known on this page, we unfortunately lost one of our lesson horses, Hope, to Colic 2 weeks ago. This is a devastating blow to our lesson program and as we pick up the pieces and work out what our next steps looks like, we are left with a very large vet bill.

Summerset Stables is hosting a short fundraiser to help cover some of these vet bills. Linda Schaeffer Lee is partnering with us by providing Mary Kay products for the event.

🗓 It runs from Thursday, February 26 – Monday, March 2.

We’ll kick things off in a private Facebook Messenger group where all the details will be shared and you can see how to participate. If you’re not on Facebook, just leave your phone number on the form and updates can be sent by text instead.

All profits from product sales during the event will go directly toward helping with the vet expenses. Please share to friends and family who may be interested in participating! The more this is shared, the more it helps ❤️

You've heard about our PeeWee and HoH JR Programs for ages 5-7. Now let us tell you about the Hands On Horsemanship Program built for students ages 8+.

The HOH Program is a curriculum based program that focuses on ALL aspects of horses, not just riding. A great program for horse crazy kids that want to know everything HORSE. Weekly lessons that teach basic riding skills mixed with lessons in the barn about horse care, health, equipment, etc. make for a well rounded young equestrian.

Each student receives a binder at the start of each Level and get lesson pages added each week about what they've learned. At the end of each level, they will test their skills and knowledge to pass on to the next level.

What's New and Improved? This program had been redesigned like a monthly "subscription" as opposed to semester based like years previous. The New monthly plan allows for flexibility in scheduling around holidays, trips, illness, students who may need a little more time to complete each level and can be started at any time of the year! With the subscription you get the lesson binder and a weekly lesson as well as discounts for additional lessons/camps/events/etc. hosted here at Summerset.

The weather outside is frightful (and Cold! 🥶) But we're warming up with the idea of SPRING!!!

Registration is now open for our Spring PeeWee and HOH JR Programs! Both Programs are for ages 5-7. Registration for both programs ends Feb 28th 2026

**PeeWee Program**
- The best way to introduce small children to the world of horses! Our PeeWee Program is 5 sessions long, each with a small lesson about horses, a craft, horse grooming and a pony ride (weather permitting)
- Sundays from 5pm-6:30pm (dates listed on the flyer) Starting on March 8th
-$300

**HOH JR Program**
- A great bridge between PeeWee and our HoH program. While previous experience in our PeeWee Program is not required, it is recommended.
-This program offers some more in-depth lessons about horses, crafts/matching games, and works on balance and confidence in the saddle.
-Sundays from 2pm-4pm (dates listed on the flyer) Starting March 8th
-$450

The intricate stuff doesn’t often look like much to the observer. It’s not flashy, it can be difficult to distinguish and it’s generally not super impressive to the uneducated observer. But nothing beats the feeling of asking a horse a question so subtly that it’s barely noticeable and the horse responds with softness, precision and ready for the next question. That’s why we work so hard on correct communication, biomechanics and partnership with the horse and build confidence and skill from the bottom up.
