If you are looking for flashy and downright adorable, Ronnie is your guy! He’s roughly 15.2-3hh late 4 y/o Dutch Harness Horse Cross (possibly crossed with some draft?). He’s been in a professional training program since January to learn the basics and gain confidence both on the ground and under saddle. He has shown that he is ready to find that special person who can continue his training to help him reach his full potential. He is a young horse and also had it rough at some point early on in life so he is only being offered to someone relaxed and patient who has lots of experience training young horses. Someone who also understands DHH’s would be ideal. Even though he can be suspicious of new people, Ronnie warms up quickly when cookies are involved! He is a total sweetheart and tries very hard to make his rider happy. He’s very food motivated and has responded brilliantly to positive reinforcement with training cookies. Ronnie initially had some fears surrounding mounting, which we took the time to work on and he will now stand quietly and confidently to be mounted. Because he is young, he is still working on finding balance, gaining strength and the ability to carry himself. He has a big trot and his canter is lovely and ground covering. He will ride in the indoor, outdoor arena, and in our grass dressage arena and jump field. He’s been getting a good Dressage foundation and, because he’s only 4, he has just lightly jumped over some small fences in the arena and cross-country and he was both brave and showed athleticism. This guy has a lot of potential. I see him being very successful in the Dressage arena but he would also make a super little Event horse. He lives out 24/7 in a field with other young geldings and is playful but never mean or bossy. He’s barefoot and up to date on everything. He stands quietly to be groomed and is easy to tack up and has no vices. He’d be perfect for someone experienced who is looking for a really nice horse to bring along. Asking mid fours. Please PM for more info!

What an amazing day yesterday for Heavenwood Farm's Spring Fest! From the great riding to the incredible amount of support our riders had from family and friends. It was great! Addie, Nicole and I are so proud and thankful we can provide these opportunities for our students to test and showcase their progress.

First two events for 2026 are in the books! Hard work over the winter has been showing in all the horses and riders. Everyone has been in the ribbons and finished on their Dressage scores!

We had one rider come home with High Point TB two weekends ago and one rider complete her new horse's first three phase event confidently and in a competitive position this past weekend. Quite a few are aiming for a level move up this season. I'm so proud of our riders and the work they are putting in. Looking forward to a great season!

Tommy is still looking for that perfect partner! Could it be you?!

12 year old, 15hh Grade Appy Gelding

The things everyone loves about him:

Currently barefoot
Easily has jumped 2’6”-2’9” in the arena and brave xc
Teaches intermediate flat lessons
Hacks out alone and in groups, crosses water, good on terrain, opens/closes gates
Loads and trailers like a gentleman
Same horse on and off the farm
Stands for all the important things (farrier, dentist, vet, bathing, grooming, mounting, etc.)
Started some endurance training last fall and really liked it
Goes happy on a longer rein but has a good dressage foundation
Has taken to a variety of young riders with quiet, steady hands
Easy keeper and gets along great with other horses (has been in mixed herd turnout)
Up to date on everything!

Tommy is perfect for an adventurous youth or adult ammy who appreciates a horse you don’t have to kick and who loves an “in your pocket” but not pushy personality. This guy will give you all the love back that you give to him! He’s shown potential for pretty much everything we’ve tried doing with him. If you want to try it, this guy is game! Located in Dillsburg, Pa. Priced at the lowest of five figures. Reach out to schedule a time to come see him!

Training horses is like putting together a 5000 piece puzzle. You start out with all of the pieces scattered on the table and little by little you start sorting which pieces are the outer edges, which ones match in color, and which ones have patterns that match. You start out by building the outer edges then fill in from there.

Figuring out a horse's outer edge pieces and how to put them together can be challenging. This young guy lacked confidence and trust and was anxious about pretty much everything when he came. He really didn't feel comfortable looking to me for confidence and leadership even though I gave him plenty of reasons to trust me. I integrated him into a herd of other young geldings and wonderful things have been happening. He is now looking to me for leadership, he's more focused during training sessions, and he's much more relaxed overall.

Enjoy his first canter under saddle yesterday in the indoor where he was most worried working in just a few weeks ago. 💕

As I sit in the warmth of the house with my coffee in my Starbucks Year of the Horse mug on this arctic cold day, I am reminiscing on my recent Aiken, SC training trip.

This was my second year making the trip and one thing that has become very apparent is just how beneficial it is for not only my riding but my teaching, as well. Some may view my trip as simply a vacation, but it is so much more than that. As an instructor and trainer, it's easy to fall into the monotony that is training young/green horses and teaching lessons. I am very good at providing diversity in my instruction for my students but it's easy to fall into patterns especially during the winter months in the indoor. And admittedly, I do not get to ride my well trained, mature horses often enough (they have jobs to pay for themselves) so I don't get to focus on myself much outside of the lessons that I take from my international level instructors on my mature horses. I certainly don't get lessons as frequently as my students do (you know, travel time and money). So the ten days in Aiken is the perfect opportunity for me to focus on my riding and riding a well trained, mature partner without having long travel days in addition to teaching and training rides. I also got to show INSTEAD of coach. New this year was a seminar hosted by Banks Mill Feeds with a holistic veterinarian which was great. I bought her book from Amazon that night and just got it in the mail. Excited to read it and expand my knowledge!

Don't get me wrong, we do some shopping, sightseeing and it's definitely a mental reset too but it's very much a training trip instead of a vacation. And I can say, I am very much refreshed, recharged with new exercises and ideas and ready for Spring! Oh, and my well trained, mature horse is just the best! 💕

The newest arrival at Heavenwood Farm is 4 y/o Ronnie. He's here for young horse training and will be available for sale when he's ready! He's already shown that he's quite a good problem solver even when he's not 100% confident in the answer to the question being asked. And he's as cute as a button!!!
