Good morning! Thanks to everyone who came out to Saturday’s seedling sale! Great to see so many plant people! We still have lots of seedlings for this Saturday’s sale. I’ll post an availability list by the end of the week. Water your plants this week and stay hydrated!

FLASH! Just found a mangled, stepped on, pair of prescription glasses, with broken strap, in the tall, vicious end of our blackberry patch. Clearly the thorns ripped them off someone's back as they sought out the deepest black beauties. Frame is bent, but lenses cleaned up nicely, could be reset in new frames. To claim, call 207-234-4225. Will ship if you are out of range.

Our 2025 Blueberry Season Has Now Come to an End! BrightBerry Farm’s PYO Organically-Grown High-Bush Blueberries are ALL PICKED! So we are now officially CLOSED until next summer!
The blueberries grew and ripened, and the pickers came and picked, until the last happy quarts were packed up and taken home today, August 11. It was a short season this year. We had hoped to be picking all through August, but these weeks of hot, dry weather hastened the ripening.
As for the blackberries in our one long row, we expected them to be in short supply this year due to storm and critter damage — lots of broken canes. But this year, with those weeks of hot, dry weather, the blackberry season lasted one whole week. The first few days looked good, but unripe berries didn't swell, produced tiny black berries not worth picking, a big disappointment.
But as we say here in Red Sox Nation, “Wait till next year!” See you then.

Decent crowd Sunday, more blueberries picked than expected. Word in the patch is that more ripe berries are still there, hiding in the middle of our organic high-bush blueberry bushes. So, we're extending our usual daily 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. open hours at least through Monday, Aug. 11, for those willing to hunt for the last few quarts of the season. We'll play it day by day after that. Maybe even some blackberries will have ripened since Saturday. Questions? 207-356-6062.

UPDATE: Blackberry patch was picked clean of ripe berries by 10 a.m. Saturday (Aug. 9). It will take until Monday or Tuesday for the canes to ripen enough more for a trip out. Sorry for the inconvenience.
Blueberries and Blackberries together! This may be the last weekend this year when both will be here for the picking. The hot weather has forced even our late-season organic high-bush blueberries to ripen weeks earlier than usual. So the blues that are ripe now are all we've got. And the blackberry canes that were liberated in our one tangled row are absolutely loaded with blackberry clusters, that are ripening individual berries now and over the next week or so. So, last call for our blueberries, and first shot at blackberries to top out your visit this weekend. Open 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. daily. $6 per pound for both, we take cash, checks and credit cards. (We'll be open next week for blackberry picking, but blueberries will be on gleaning status by then, which means you're welcome to hunt for those last few blue treasures, but no promises -- and no price cut.) Questions, call 207-356-6062. BrightBerry Farm, 4262 Kennebec Road, Dixmont, Maine.

Still good picking for our organic high-bush blueberries, and the blackberry picking is better than expected, with liberated canes on the patch's outside edges ripening well and easy to pick. (Clean-up of tangled and broken blackberry canes continues.) Open 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. all week, $6 per pound, both berries. BrightBerry Farm, 4262 Kennebec Rd., Dixmont ME Questions? 207-356-6062.

Pick-Your-Own organically-grown high-bush blueberries, plus a few blackberries coming on in our one long row. Same open hours for both, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., today and all this week, great picking weather. Blueberries are good picking on the mid-season and late varieties. But blackberries are just starting, and are not as abundant as they have been. (Trying to let people know they are available, at the same time tamping down expectations to match the reality in the patch.) Price for both berries, $6 per pound. Questions, call 207-356-6062

BLACKBERRIES!! Surprise!! Ripe already, sooner than last year in our one long blackberry row! The heat wave last week must have pushed up their Best-By date. BUT, fewer berries than last year, due to storm and critter damage. Lots of broken canes, clean-up still underway. Should be enough berries to pick and enjoy fresh or in a pie, but not enough to stock your freezer. Price same as our PYO high-bush blueberries, $6 per pound. (Remember, unlike the user-friendly high-bush blueberries, blackberries have THORNS. Caution and/or protective gear advised.)
