Some things find their way into your life and become so much more meaningful than you ever could have imagined.
As some of you know, our first two Highland cows, Hettie and Pippi, came from the family of Kevin Howell , a well-known local townsman who sadly passed away almost three years ago. Kevin was also a big supporter of my husband’s metal business. His support went beyond kind words — he purchased many pieces from Dillon over the years. When you visit Cedar Hollow, you can still see pieces of Dillon’s work that Kevin chose, including signage, weather vanes, brackets, and benches. When we had the opportunity to purchase his two cows not long after his passing, it meant something extra special to us.
Today, we brought another piece of Kevin’s story to our farm by bringing home one of his many barns. This little barn will soon have a new purpose as our chicken coop, giving it a new life here with us.
Having Kevin’s cows and now one of his barns here at our farm feels special to us. It’s a way to keep a little piece of his legacy alive while creating new memories of our own.
We never imagined that purchasing Kevin’s two cows would lead us down the path we’re on today. What started as an opportunity to give his cows a home has grown into something truly special that we love more than we ever expected.
Just a few years later, they’ve become such a big part of our lives, and we’re grateful to have another little piece of Kevin’s story here at Highland Hill.
