We are new to farmsteading as of February 2015 and excited to get started and share our adventures, trials and tribulations. So, to tell you a little about our farm and family. Dennis and I met in 2012 and I immediately told him about this dream I had about "someday" owning some land to raise a few animals and bees. I told him of my plans to have goats for milk and maybe make soap. I remember bein

g scared telling him this because I really liked him, and I was determined to go through with this dream and if he didn't agree, I wasn't sure what would happen. Lucky for me, he completely agreed and thought it was a great idea. while we talked it over, my "someday" retirement dream soon became a 5-10 year plan. As we talked and planned and read everything we could get our hands on this plan soon became a 5yr, then 2yr then six month plan! We were living in FL and had decided to move to WV and make a go of it! Well, as most people know life and best laid plans don't always line up and WV just wasn't for us. As life and fate sometimes line up just right we found a piece of property in TN, and everything worked out to allow us to be here on our property and about to start actually putting all we have read and learned into practical application. We are practicing a family approach to this adventure, right now it is Dennis, myself (Taralee), my 13 year old daughter, Devon and Dennis's most amazing parents, Dennis and Kathy. We all live together in one house and will be learning and doing this together. I hope you will follow along with us in this adventure!

We had a busy fun 2 weeks home, not enough hours in the day or days home!

Planted some tomatoes, put pumpkins in temporary pots because we ran out of time, prepped the small area we will put the pumpkins and some other veggies (hopefully 🤞🏼) Blueberry’s are loaded, lots of apples and peaches on the trees!

We had a fun outer space party for Juliette’s 5th birthday. With summer break here we kept her with us for the rest of the week. We had glow parties nightly and got to have 1 on her new trampoline!
She helped us garden, water plants and we did lots of crafts. Devon even made homemade play dough.

We closed the chapter of our lives in TN today, it’s bittersweet because we bought that place with nothing more than a dream and some wild ideas. We learned so much and worked so hard. I want to thank every person who ever bought milk, body products, and goats from us!
I still get inquiries weekly for milk so if you are a milk producer in the middle TN area, please drop a comment if you want me to pass your information along to customers. Just comment your farm name, general location and how to contact you.

We can’t wait to start our new chapter in Alabama! Baby chicks arrive June 1st, and I’m hoping g to have at least this year’s weaned kids home by July. We will be setting up a farm stand next year with a variety of items. Baby goats will tentatively be available beginning spring of 2027.

Once again thank you to everyone who helped make our farm a success in TN!

Time to get your minis ready for the first V-Show of 2026!

MDGA V-Show Entries Open June 1st !

As we get ready for V-Show entries to open, here are a few important tips to help make your submission successful:

🐐Leave plenty of space around your goat
The entry form allows for slight cropping, but starting with a well-framed photo makes all the difference.
🐐Make sure the entire goat is visible
From nose to tail, poll to hooves. Feet must be visible and not hidden in grass.
🐐Don’t wait until the last minute to enter
We want all breeds to meet minimum entry requirements. Entry numbers are held until the deadline, so we are unable to provide updates during the submission period.

We’re looking forward to seeing your entries and all the incredible goats in this V-Show.

Our Newsletter Chair has officially used up her stash of Goat Gadgets (which tells you just how popular they’ve been! 😄). We’d love to feature more in upcoming newsletters, but we need your help to make that happen!

If you’ve created, discovered, or swear by a favorite goat gadget—whether it’s for milking, feeding, housing, or just making life easier in the barn—please share it with us! Photos, descriptions, DIY ideas, or product recommendations are all welcome.

This is a great way to highlight the creativity and innovation within our Miniature Dairy Goat community and help fellow members improve their setups.

Drop your ideas below—we can’t wait to see what you’ve been using!

So fortune to have inherited the previous owners lovely garden! We have so many things in bloom and growing, it’s a mystery as things begin to grow, but so far we for sure have apples, blueberries, grapes and peaches all growing fruit! I can grow goats like nobodies business but admittedly don’t have a very green thumb but I’m trying…. And thankful for the previous owner’s green thumb!

Since I am experiencing serious FOMO this year with kidding season, I thought I’d share a funny thing we did in 2019 when the does were adhering to the “Doe Code” so seriously we had entered hostage negotiations!
