🍇 Sunday in the Vineyard: Chambourcin 🍇
Each Sunday, we’re sharing a little more about our vineyard, the grapes we grow, and what is happening among the vines throughout the season.

Harvest season should now be active at Haze Gray Vineyards. Some varieties may already be safely in the winery, while others are still ripening on the vines. During this period, we sample frequently and watch every weather forecast closely. A few additional days of ripening can improve flavor and color, but protecting the health and quality of the fruit remains our first priority.

Chambourcin is a French-American hybrid grape that is well suited to the climate and growing conditions of the eastern United States. Its grapes develop a deep blue-black color as they ripen and can produce wines with impressive color and bright fruit character.

Chambourcin wines can offer flavors of black cherry, blackberry, raspberry, plum, herbs, earth, and spice. It can be made as a fresh, fruit-forward red, a more structured dry wine, or even a flavorful rosé.

The clusters may be nearing harvest, but their journey from the vineyard to your glass is only beginning.
