Our new girl is fitting in nicely here at Culture Creek Farm, and she has the sweetest personality. 🐮💕

I have absolutely loved watching all the name suggestions come in over the last few days! After getting to know her a little better, I've narrowed it down to the three names that seem to fit her best:

Gerttie is looking good this morning!
Today marks 3 weeks with our girl, and wow… have we come leaps and bounds. From not wanting to be touched, keeping her distance, and being stressed while learning what chickens, cats, and dogs even are — Gerttie has turned into my little pocket pet. She now waits for me by the pasture fence, loves chin scratches, and is putting on some much-needed weight. 💛

We’ve had a full fridge, a full schedule, hand churning butter, and making fresh ice cream daily. It’s been busy, but so rewarding.

If you know me, then you know I’ve said 100 times I’d never add a Jersey to our pasture… but I’m so glad I did. She has truly exceeded every expectation I had, and because of our Gert Gert, I think there will always be a Jersey here at Culture Creek Farm. 🐄✨

✨ Meet Gertrude… but we call her Gerttie ✨

We are so excited to officially introduce the newest addition to Culture Creek Farm — our beautiful Jersey girl, Gerttie 🤎🐄

Gerttie comes from a large dairy that supplies milk to Ashe County Cheese… so if you’ve ever enjoyed Ashe County Cheese, you’ve already had a little taste of our girl!

And now — her A2A2 rich, creamy milk is available right here on our farm 🥛

This has been a long time coming for us. Gerttie is settling into a much slower, quieter life here — trading in the busy dairy parlor for one-on-one milking, fresh pasture, and all the extra love. She’s learning quickly, and we are so proud of her.

We milked her for the very first time last night and she did absolutely wonderful 🙌
