Harvest is coming in fast enough that guessing which field to start on isn’t good enough anymore.
We’ve been using growing degree days, hybrid maturity, and moisture projections to line fields out before we ever pull a combine in. It doesn’t replace walking the field or sticking a probe in the grain. It just keeps us from burning diesel on the wrong 120 acres first.
This year we’re tracking everything field by field — irrigated and dryland — so we have a better idea when each one should hit 17%. Some of that’s ready this week. A lot of it isn’t.
Technology doesn’t harvest the crop. It just makes the plan less of a gut call.
AI is changing the game when it comes to utilizing the data that's already being collected.
