Today was a fun [farm] day 😊 . I headed east to participate in a fresh produce grower panel, sharing the story of our vegetable farm - what inspired, and still inspires, us to do what we do. There was much storytelling and collaboration on the strengths, needs and future growth of a new and reimagined local food system. We enjoyed a locally sourced meal by UVA Dining and tour of Morven Kitchen Garden. Then it was a quick trip home to work some cows and move overhead irrigation 💧 into the field corn 🌽. All in a [farm] day's work 👍

A busy three-day weekend planting peppers. Lots of time in the transplant seat, and thankful for the rain shower we received yesterday [while unloading the 2nd delivery of plants] 🌧. Somehow, we were able to fit in attending the Highland FFA banquet to celebrate the accomplishments of future farmers, who are building [ag] dreams like the one we get to live every day ❤️ 🌱

We were just shy of getting all 260ish trays of the first variety of bell pepper in yesterday 🫑 Variety #2 arrives later this morning, so we'll be back at it in a few 👍 🏃‍♀️

Veggin' Out on my personal day, but not the way you think 😉 😏. It's hard to film when you need both hands, but I'll do a recap and share later. But now I'm grabbing a quick lunch and dry shirt. [A power nap would be nice, too 😴] 🌱 ☀️

Sharing - Pretty cool tech, right here in Virginia, producing tomatoes.

A massive greenhouse in Carroll County is now stocking store shelves across the East Coast with tomatoes grown entirely in the United States — and the company behind it says high tech is what makes it possible.

Like a fresh sheet of lined notebook paper, ready for an assignment. ✔️ 📃 🌱 Fingers crossed 🤞 we're out of any major freeze/frost window 😬 because tomatoes 🍅 and peppers 🫑are on the way 🏃‍♀️ 🏃‍♂️ 🛻

It's scouting time! My husband is gonna hold me to a once-weekly after work scouting schedule for the rest of the season. Main concerns I'll look for are water and fertilizer needs, but most importantly, pest pressure (plant and animal 🦌🦫🌿🥀) . Didn't find much on my first visit, but we're just getting started. 🌱 ☀️
