Hello to all our Facebook family and friends. For those that haven’t heard, we had a fire Friday, January 3rd, that took our century old barn and most of the connecting pole barn. Danielle has second degree burns on her face and a hand, but is recovering wonderfully. We didn’t lose any sheep or cattle, but did lose some of our beloved barn cats! And so much stuff that we had ready for lambing, to start at the end of this week, show stuff and all the stuff that comes along with this livestock business!

We want to thank those that have reached out, sent prayers, showed up with food, showed up for hugs, and those that have helped with physical labor. If we started listing names someone would be left out, but you know who you are!

We also want to thank Willow Lake fire department and Doland Fire Department for responding and saving as much as could be. Their hard work in extreme cold and risking their lives to help save our livelihood will not be forgotten.

Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you. - 1 Peter 5:7

It’s been a great day in Springfield at the National Oxford Show! Our march ewe lamb, Houghtaling 24-375, received Junior Champion Ewe as well as Reserve Champion Ewe overall. We are very excited to see what the future holds for this fancy girl! Make sure to come check her and our other consignments out if you haven’t already- they sell tomorrow! This ewe's sire, 19-905, was Reserve Champion Ram at the 2019 All-American in Hutchinson, KS. Her dam is sired by Marshall Sheep Company's 506, A.K.A. "Fred", who has produced many awesome lambs for us over the years. Dam is also from a great ewe family.

2021 lambing has been done for about a week, while we wait for these prospects to develop we will reflect on some highlights from 2020.

Houghtaling 905 didn’t make it to the 2020 S.D. State fair because he needed to stay home and work. We think he would have been quite competitive and liked the limited 2020 lambs he sired. He is sired by Houghtaling 795, grand sire is Pullin 1619 and he was Reserve Champion at the 2019 All-American.

We have a great couple of days in the Open class show at the South Dakota State Fair. Today results:
Grand Champion Hamphire Ram on our 1st place January ram.
5th and 11th Hamphire yearling ewes.
2nd place pair of Hamphire yearling ewes.
3rd and 6th place Hamphire January ewes.
1st place Hamphire February ewe lamb.
1st place pair of Hamphire ewe lambs.
1st place Mixed Pair of Lambs.
1st Place Flock.

Yesterday’s results:
Grand Champion All Other Meat Breeds Ram on our Oxford yearling ram.
2nd January All Other Meat Breeds Ram with our Oxford.
1st February All Other Meat Breeds Ewe with our Oxford.
