We’re planning these new chicken options with a USDA-inspected processor:

• Breaded chicken nuggets — $16 per 20 oz bag
• Ground chicken — $9.96 per 1 lb package
• Maple chicken sausage — $10.67 per 1 lb package, 5 links
• Chicken bone broth — $10 per quart, 32 fl oz

Some of you have already mentioned ground chicken and bone broth—thank you! Knowing what your household would purchase at these prices helps us decide what to produce and how much.

We had the pleasure of visiting a USDA processor today and getting our foot in the door for some exciting possibilities for Roswell Family Farm.

We’d love to offer more chicken products that make everyday meals easier. But we also need to make sure expanding makes sense for our customers and keeps our family farm financially healthy. That’s where our community comes in. 💚

This processor offers:

• Breaded chicken nuggets
• Maple sausage links
• Ground chicken
• Chicken pot pies in 12-ounce and 24-ounce sizes
• Chicken bone broth
• Dog food

They can also process the chicken cuts we already offer, with party wings instead of whole wings.

The pot pie and broth pictured are samples made for other farms that the processor shared with us. They show what’s possible; they aren’t Roswell products available for purchase yet.

Processing would cost us roughly twice as much, so we want to hear from the people who would actually be buying these products before we make that commitment. Retail prices haven’t been set.

Which of these would you realistically buy? Would it be a regular staple or an occasional purchase?

We want to grow in a way that serves your family and keeps ours farming. Your honest feedback will help us decide our next step.

We’ve already heard interest in bone broth and ground chicken, and we appreciate everyone who has weighed in. Now we need to hear from more households to understand how much demand is out there.

Our recent visit to a USDA processor opened up possibilities for:

• Breaded chicken nuggets
• Maple sausage links
• Ground chicken
• Chicken pot pies in 12-ounce and 24-ounce sizes
• Chicken bone broth
• Dog food

We’ve worked through the pricing needed to make this financially sustainable. What we need your help with is deciding which products to prioritize and how much to produce.

The first farm tool we teach doesn’t have an engine. It’s paying attention.

Every walk through a pen tells us something:

Are the birds moving normally?
Are they gathering around the feed and water?
Is one bird hanging back from the flock?
Does the bedding—or the whole room—feel different today?

The important part isn’t simply checking another chore off the list. It’s knowing what normal looks like well enough to notice when something changes.

That takes time, patience and plenty of ordinary mornings in the barn. It’s also something our kids can begin learning long before they’re big enough to handle the heavy work.

Good animal care happens in the details. 💚

Some people have a porch with a view. Ours comes with a harvest. 🌽🚜

Insight Dairy is harvesting the corn they planted on Emily’s grandparents’ land, and we’ve got a front-porch seat from her grandparents’ house—the place we now call home.

The leaves are starting to turn, the equipment is moving, and another local farm is bringing in the crop they’ve worked for.

Family land. A neighboring farm’s hard work. A little glimpse of fall here in Salisbury, New York. 💚
