Satisfy cravings with homemade Hamburger Steak, smothered in rich mushroom and onion gravy. A comforting blend of flavors awaits—delight in every savory bite!
Ingredients:
• 2 lbs Ground Chuck
• 1 Yellow Onion, thinly sliced
• 16 oz mushrooms (blend of cremini and shiitake)
• 2 cups beef broth (divided, fat-free, low-sodium)
• 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
• 6 tbsp butter
• 4 sliced scallions (white and green sections)
• Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions:
1. Divide meat into 6 equal-sized patties. Liberally salt and pepper each side.
2. In a skillet, melt 2 tablespoons of butter. Cook onion and mushrooms over medium heat until browned. Set aside.
3. Melt an additional 2 tablespoons of butter in the skillet. Sear beef patties for 3 minutes on each side or until reaching 120°F. Remove from the skillet.
4. Add the last 2 tablespoons of butter to the skillet. Pour in 1½ cups beef broth. Bring to a simmer and whisk in flour. Cook until thickened. If too thick, add the remaining 1/2 cup broth.
5. Return beef patties, mushrooms, and onions to the hot gravy. Season with salt and pepper. Cook to desired doneness.
