Do you have a guilty pleasure dahlia? You know, one you might be embarrassed to admit you love for whatever reason? Maybe it's looked down upon by top exhibitors, it's commonly found at big box stores, it doesn't have "proper" form or it's just kinda odd?

My guilty pleasure dahlia is Fuzzy Wuzzy. The name is campy as heck but also somehow perfect and it's just a silly dahlia that I happen to adore. I think I will always grow at least a plant or two!

Local friends head down to the market tomorrow morning if you're looking for dahlia tubers!

Come on out to Fulton Street farmers market tomorrow morning to find some fantastic dahlia tuber varieties!
Cash or check only. Tubers are $10 each or 3 for $25. Check the times listed below, as wmds members aren't there as late as the market is open. The following Saturday won't happen if we sell out tomorrow, which has happened the last few years. Best to shop tomorrow!

An update on the super fat sprout I have been trying to root for the last several weeks in a root riot cube: No roots but the top is developing nicely. On to plan B. Trying to root it in water per Jen Penttila 's suggestion!

Are you growing any dahlia seedlings this year? I'm going to do somewhere around 200 first year seedlings. I would love to do 500 or even 1000, but I have to leave room for my older seedlings plus loads of named varieties! Oh, and there has to be room for lisianthus, cosmos, and other foliage and fillers. It's easy to go overboard but I am determined to keep it manageable for just myself so I still enjoy taking care of everything!

Shipping update:
Our temperatures in Michigan have had some pretty wild swings lately and I paused shipping more orders out until I get a few days of lows above freezing. The week of Monday the 30th looks super promising so I'm going to try to pack the rest of the orders before then. As long as the temperatures in your area are favorable too, look for a shipping notification that week!
