This summer has been a wonderful mix of special returning families and so many new and fantastic families. The farm has experienced some sad times recently and every single person who has stayed has been incredibly caring, understanding and supportive. We tend to hear about the bad, but I'm taking a moment to share the good! There is so much of it out there. People are filled with kindness and compassion and want to help.Thank you to you all. You have definitely eased my sadness and filled my days with joy. ❤️

(On a not so pleasant note, due to concerns about AI and data sharing, I will no longer be posting photos of children's faces. Very sad that we should have to worry about that, but we do.)

I'll be taking my own Airbnb trip in September. Huge thank you to Jim, the farm's hero, for taking care of EVERYTHING while I'm away. Looking forward to seeing all my foliage families SOON! 🍁

Una. My constant companion on the farm for nine years. Greeter of guests. Ambassador for her breed. Shotgun rider in the gator for countless children learning to drive. Sofa buddy for movie nights when parents were given a date night. Walking partner for more countless children. Una was the very essence of the farm. Welcoming, accepting and loving. Despite horrific abuse before being rescued, Una chose to greet all she met with love. She was unexpectedly and too quickly taken from us all. I am forever grateful to New York City Second Chance Rescue for saving Una and to Doris Pangburn for connecting us.

Yes, more love on the farm! Yesterday a very dear friend, and badass hiking partner, ended her "loose and wild" days by marrying a total "green flag" guy! Very honored to have the farm selected for the occasion and grateful to have witnessed this very special and love-filled celebration. A gorgeous pair of red tailed hawks and a heron passed by to check in on the goings on! (Thank you to my CA guests who suggested weaving the hydrangea into the wisteria... beautiful!) ❤️

This is a long one, but if you would enjoy some love, happiness and vermont beauty, this video is definitely worth the watch! Created by the VERY special and talented mom of a VERY special family! They are repeat guests at the pond house. *warning: There are scenes of us in our jammies! Farm rule is that if you join for the very early chicken morning chores, you must be in your jammies!!!!*

I absolutely HAVE to share this! Una! Beautifully captured by a very special guest! This amazing art was created by a young woman from IL who stayed at the pond house years ago. The entire family has become forever friends! Thank you, Maya!!! ❤️ (just to make it clear... the photo I took is on the right, waiting at the vet's, and the incredibly done drawing by Maya is on the left! The farm's well-known and loved syrup label was created by maya's mom!)

On Thursday I signed a sale agreement with the Dorset Equine Rescue. This decision has been EXTREMELY difficult for me. I have put my heart, soul, sweat, blood, tears and love into this farm for fifteen years now. I have learned and grown SO MUCH. I have been doing Airbnb here for ten years. You have all become part of me. Some of you have been visiting and supporting the farm for 9 years! I have watched your children grow up. Together we have given so much love and care to all of the horses, chickens and wild things. There are multiple reasons for this decision. If you want to know more, please don't hesitate to reach out! I am continuing to accept future bookings. All reservations are safe. There is no date, as of yet, for when actual ownership of the farm will change hands. I need to find a new home. I need to find a new purpose. (If any of you have suggestions, please contact me. I am definitely feeling a bit lost.) The rescue purchased the farm across the street a few years ago, but it has zero facilities. The purchase of my farm is a much more economical and expedient option for the rescue. Jen, the founder and director of DER, has pledged, in writing, to maintain my farm as a safe haven for all living things, not just horses. She has promised to: try, to the best of her ability, to enroll the farm in conservation easement with the vermont land trust, keep the established bat colony safe, protect the trees and native plantings that have been nourished here, continue to provide a healthy habitat for all the birds, fireflies, pollinators... every living thing that has depended on the farm. She seems sincere and that is why I am entrusting the farm to her care. At the very least, the farm will provide peace, safety and healing to the horses who have been failed by humans. At the very best, the farm will protect and nourish all of its flora and fauna. I believe that is a very good thing. ❤️

Last weekend was all about the East Dorset horse show! The barn apartment guest, who just so happens to be one of the loveliest and most together young women I've met, traveled all the way from PA with her two horses to compete! Then, a VERY special treat, a friend from COLLEGE was up from NJ with her daughter and their two horses to compete! So many fun memories from the UVM horse club to reminisce about! The farm has evolved to be about so much more than just horses, but they are the heart and soul of everything here. The shared love of horses has brought so many special people into my life. Once again I find myself filled with happiness and gratitude. Thank you! ❤️

I know that your vacations are not about me, but I had THE BEST time with this young woman! We explored tracks, watched the bats, pondered nature, discussed how best to order a Shirley Temple and took care of the farm and all its inhabitants. Such a special family and I feel so grateful to have people like this sharing the farm experience with me! This young person gives me hope for the future... strong, bright, fun and caring! ❤️

New food!!!! My mom visited and we tried it all! Mari's is delish and run by THE NICEST people. Ecuadorian food in vt! Lots of meat dishes, but they do have yummy vegetarian offerings as well. Open 8-8 so your tummy doesn't have to be on a schedule! Neighborhood Noodle has a fun vibe and very tasty Ramen! I got mine with the works and even MY stomach was full! The egg was so good!!! Next, a subject near and dear to me, ice cream!!! Benji's has opened! Wilcox is featured, but they also have soft-serve with dips! Lots of choices and they're open late, well, late for vt, 9pm! Finally some nighttime ice cream in Manchester! The owner is also incredibly friendly and kind! I'm also throwing in some gorgeous pics of my mom paddling at Lowell lake, mom working on the farm with una, the most adorable drawing from a guest/ penpal and, lastly, a sunset pic of catie happily eating away in her field.
*whoops! I forgot to mention the berries! Kinderway berry farm and animal sanctuary has wonderful berries in season at their farm stand. An added bonus is watching the very entertaining animals wandering around. They take in any critter that needs a safe place to land. ❤️

Happy solstice! The farm is overflowing with natural life and its accompanying beauty! The native plantings are doing their thing and the birds, butterflies, bees and bats are everywhere! The birds are working on their second nestings, a doe had her fawn in the house field and the raccoon who set up residency in the dead maple is coexisting nicely with us all. An overly aggressive bullfrog did cause some issues within the pond community, but he seems to have settled down. Horses, chickens and una are all happy and well, ready for summer!
