“Turning Grass Into Beef”

Natural, grass-finished beef from our pasture to your table.
(1)

Natural, grass fed and finished beef, lamb and goat, pasture raised pork and chicken, quail, fresh from the farm eggs, tallow and lard products lotions, soaps, balms, washes, scrubs and fresh honey from our apiaries. At JBW Farm Fresh, we value our livestock and strive to give them the highest standard of care, we believe our most important task is the good stewardship of the pastures, forests and

streams where we graze our animals and live. We understand that our livelihood depends on the health and resilience of the land where we graze our herds. Our animals are grain-free and hormone-free from conception to consumption. Our animals are never given growth hormones or grains. We believe cattle health and soil health go hand in hand. We graze our animals in a fashion that mimics the natural grazing behaviors and naturally breaks the life cycles of parasites. With the grass-fed consumer in mind, our beef is raised and finished on pasture with some hay, during drought periods and extreme cold. Grass-finished beef is leaner, with substantially lower levels of both total and saturated fat, and has a more balanced ratio of omega 6 to omega 3 fatty acids. It also contains higher levels of beta-carotene, B-Vitamins, and essential minerals such as calcium, magnesium, and potassium… and it tastes delicious! Why Grass-Finished? Grass-finished: A beef cow that starts off on grass and milk, get weaned from the milk and continue to live their life out eating grass or hay in pastures. We maintain nutrient rich forage year round for the animals to graze.

At this time, we will no longer be able to stock Nottingham Farm products in our stores. As many of you know, farming comes with ever-changing seasons and very full schedules, and sometimes it simply becomes difficult to be in all the places needed at once.

We are so thankful for the opportunity we’ve had to work alongside Nottingham Farm and offer their regeneratively grown vegetables to our customers. We truly appreciate all the hard work, care, and dedication they pour into their farm.

We absolutely encourage you to continue supporting them through their CSA shares and by shopping with them at the Poplar Head Farmers Market each week. We look forward to hopefully having their products back in our stores again in the future as seasonal availability allows.

Today’s chicken rotation means fresh grass, fresh insects, and another step toward healthier soil. 🌱🐓
Every move across pasture helps naturally fertilize and regenerate the land while giving our girls the freedom to forage the way they were created to.
Our hens are never caged.

With the help of their livestock guardian dogs and mobile roosting shelters, they safely roam and rest out on pasture day and night. Right now, these girls are enjoying a full 8-acre paddock to explore.

The girls would sure appreciate your support in helping keep them out on pasture where they belong! ❤️

Good morning to all….

Friday afternoon I had the pleasure of meeting a nice young family on my farm. Came to look at the animals and did sort of a short tour looking at the new facility. Homesteaders, take care of themselvers, be conscious of what they eat and what they doers. Not sure what they would call themselves but they were a most interesting family. I was reminded again of things in my younger years with my parents as they visited.

The whole family was together and they all participated in the event. Mom and Dad were very well behaved as were the kids…very respectful and smart kids also. They were participating in an activity they called home schooling. Seemed to me they had learned a lots about life and were ready to put it into action. As we went around the farm the kids seemed to be most interested in my extra t posts, old fencing, the stuff I had laying around that was not being used….my wife calls it junk. Those kids had ideas of how to put many of the items they saw into a system on their farm to make things better. Very refreshing to see kids interested in putting into action what they have learned. They were also a family of the faith.

My Mom and Dad spent time teaching us kids on a working farm. We learned so much about life and how to live and treat people. We also had a junk pile, we put the stuff there and would save it till later when we came up with something to do with it. So thankful to see some of what my parents did with me going on in the life of this young family. If you have ideas other folks don’t see or understand or a junk pile please consider this sign I saw sometime back.

Be encouraged today! Take time for your kids! Encourage someone by your life! Thank you young 6 year old Davis and your family for a wonderful few hours last evening!

Spiders are simple little creatures. Lack of spiders shows lack of insects. Lack of insects shows lack of soil health…..no habitat for insects, no insects.

Plainly said most folks want to live where it’s lush and plush not where it’s dry and no plant life. Insects are much the same!

In observance of Memorial Day, both JBW Farm Fresh locations will be closed Monday, May 25, as we pause to remember and honor the brave men and women who gave their lives for our freedom. 🇺🇸

Farming has a way of reminding us just how much sacrifice is woven into the foundation of this country. Every pasture walked, every seed planted, every meal shared around a table built from hard work and freedom… it all exists because others were willing to lay down everything for future generations they may never meet.

Regenerative farming teaches us to care well for what has been entrusted to us — the land, the animals, our families, and our community — so it can continue to give life long after we are gone. Memorial Day carries that same reminder. We honor those who gave of themselves so future generations could continue to live freely and flourish.

Today and every day, we are grateful.
We will reopen Tuesday during normal business hours. We hope you all have a safe and meaningful Memorial Day with the people you love. ❤️
