This post isn’t about politics, but it is about the families buying farmers beef and the families who raise it.
A new federal plan will bring up to 660 million pounds of tariff-free imported ground-beef product into the country for 90 days. We truly understand that families need affordable food, but cheaper imports will likely lower what American farmers are paid while their costs for feed, fuel, equipment and labor remain high. That squeeze could very well force small farmers to sell breeding cattle, reduce their herds, or leave farming altogether.
When you can buy local, please do. Every purchase supports our community and local farmers. Rebuilding a family farm can take years, if it’s even possible.
