Letâs clear something up. And honestly, add a little shame to this situation.
That little round thing in the tent? Itâs a smoke detector, not a camera.
Airbnb requires smoke detectors in every listing, even canvas tents. Im not sure you have been in one lately, but there arent many places to mount one that would be in an area where smoke would travel.
Believe it or not, Iâd rather protect my guests from actual fire than film them sleeping (which, by the way, would be hard to do when we barely have enough service to load a weather app).
So no, itâs not a camera.
Itâs called being a responsible adult.
We barely have enough cell signal to load a weather app. Trust me, nobody here cares about livestreaming your nap.If you think Iâve set up a full surveillance system in a canvas tent in rural Alabama, you might be giving me way too much credit. We are happy if we get Netflix to work.
Lets add the shame. For all of you who say "Do not book here because there is a camera above the bed" how can you sleep at night thinking there is somewhere out there predatory like this and not report it?
If something like that is suspected, report it! If you see something, say something!!!
Iâd gladly jump through every hoop and open every door to prove my innocence, because my first priority is, and always will be, the safety of my guests.
So shame on anyone who spread that rumor instead of protecting others.
You didnât expose a predator. You just showed your lack of sense and a lack of courage to take action to protect others. If you suspect something, do better. Take action, dont just talk about it.
