This was our younger LGDs first kidding and they did fantastic, they were very interested in the birth but gave mom and the babies their space (after mom let them know the boundaries).

Appa (pictured) is quite enamored with them and is sitting a respectful distance while watching over them.

Meet the LGDs!

This is Rudy.

Rudy is an almost 8 year old Great Pyrenees male, he is the sire to all the younger dogs on our farm.

Rudy has only been with us for about 3 years but I don’t know how we functioned before him! He is good with all livestock, cows, horses, chickens, ducks, geese, pigs, donkeys, we haven’t found a single thing that phases him! He defends ours and our neighbor’s properties from coyotes, stray dogs, bobcats, and even people who aren’t where they should be, but he is so good with our pet dogs, our baby, and anyone who is allowed to be here.

He is “retired” now, he sends his days sleeping, playing with his sons, and visiting the neighbors.
