Well, I am starting to look at the possibility of resuming tours again this summer. Hopefully we can have some smaller ones to get going again. Those 50+ people tours can be a bit much. It gave me encouragement when I was given an envelope with Emil's funeral card and a complete write-up about him from the Hasting's paper when he died. I'm learning even more about him and realized that I need to brush up on the info we have since I have had a hard time remembering some of the things tour attendees ask me about him and the farms!

Time for an update on our cats...I thought it was really odd that about a day after we lost Spot, 5 very wild kittens/cats showed up. I thought someone might have dropped them off, but we couldn't get close to them. They are really cool though. One of them looks like someone took one of those gray markers they use in bingo and put spots on him. They made it through a real cold spell very well and seem to be thriving. I have forbid anyone (including me) from trying to tame any of them. LOL!

Another sure sign of spring....
As usual I was looking out my windows to see what was happening and I thought Ian was pulling another surprise on me when I realized there was a bunny in the grasses area that the metal pheasants that Ian gave me are in. I went out and realized he was alive and sat really still for pictures. He was really snuggled in and stayed there for 3 days until we just had to see if he would move.

Spring is coming! In fact, tomorrow is the first day of Spring! As the days get longer, my house plants are starting to bloom more and give me hope for warmer weather! The plants are orchids, anthrurium (or flamingo-lily), and two klanchoe. And yes, I do use the 3 ice cubes a week on the orchids and they have bloomed many times.

I was going through some things and realized I didn't get this posted back in December or on January 19th National Popcorn Day. Our friend Mitch picked up popcorn for for himself and for the local FFA to sell for a fund raiser. We sent 400lbs to North Dakota last year. That was down from 500lbs in 2024, but that's ok because it was the last of the 2024 crop. I'm sure glad Ian was here to help load and check the pickup out for the trip back to North Dakota.

Just when I think I'm truly retired from farming, I get called in by the boys! LOL!

Phil & Ian were both gone and Troy was trying to move snow so he could haul more grain. He made it over to the farm we call "The Home Place" because we lived there for about 10 years. Well, the snow plow wouldn't lift, so he was stuck. I spent most of the morning moving him around trying to get it fixed. It was neat though that it got hung up in front of the Morton building and that brough back many memories.

These are the pictures that I texted to the boys on crops in Egypt and a way to fish! In shallow water, they throw their nets out then strike the water with a big stcik to frighten the fish into the nets. Beating the water mimics predatory activity.

Ok, I couldn't resist...

I was looking through the pictures from our trip to Egypt and found a few more that I wanted to share!

This gives you an idea of how big some of the areas are that we visited. I am the 3rd one behind Onnica and Jenay is behind me.

Well, this is it! The last of our Egypt trip! This is just a few side notes and last few pictures.

Both of my suitcases suffered injuries and will have to be replaced.
Here is some of the towel animals we would find in our rooms on the boat.
I'm including a group photo at one of the temples and one of our Egyptian guide, Ahmed. Notice the female statue behind him. It is the wife of the king with a hand pushing/supporting her husband. Lots of things have stayed the same over the years! LOL!

Of course, there was so much more and most important were the people in our group. We became a familly and hope to get together in the future!

Day 8....I think. I might have lost track by this point. We checked out of our river cruise in Aswan and took another felucca ride to the temple of Philae. This temple was also relocated in the 70's to higher ground so they could build the High dam. The coptics,Egyptian Christians, modified a part into a church while they were hiding from the Romans. We then got to go to the Essence Of Life Alfayed Perfume shop to experience Egyptian level of essential oils. Then back on another felucca to get to go to a Nubian village and see a Nubian's home and got some ink, henna, while we were there. We also got the chance to hold pet crocodiles another first for me.Then we flew back to Cairo for the night 😴
