👉 Announcement! We officially have a farm name! 👏
💚 Rooted Acres Family Farm 💚
For those of you who have purchased eggs or chicken from us you may have noticed we were using the name “Peaceful Prairie Farm” on the label. We couldn’t decide what to name our farm so we just went with what my Instagram handle was 😆 However, in considering a long term name for our farm we knew the name of our farm should have a deeper meaning and representation of our family and values.
Being rooted represents a few things to us…The first is about our faith which is the most important aspect about our family and how we live our life. That we are rooted and established in believing (Col 2:7) and we are rooted and grounded in love (Eph 3:17).
The second thing that it represents is our farming practices. We put a lot of effort into learning how to best care for our animals and manage the land so that it regenerates, so that we can grow tall, native grasses that take deep root and so that through these practices we can heal and improve the soil year by year. Each animal that is under our care we feel a deep responsibility for and it’s important to us that they have all their needs met (minerals, fresh forage, shelter, etc) so that they can live their best life. In turn, we get to provide the community from our abundance with nutritionally dense and local food.
We were also very intentional about having “family farm” be included in our name instead of just farm. This is because everything we do, we do together as a unit, as a team. It’s important to Ryan and I to teach our kids about work. Not just to get the job done, but to work heartily and with gratefulness. To teach them the why. Every aspect of our farm is centered around us being together as a family.
The last thing I will say is that those roots extend out into our community as well. We have big dreams of hosting events here at the farm someday with the purpose of building community and providing a place for people’s hearts to be filled.
