🐴 Ampère: The Dressage Stallion Who Made an Electrifying Impression ⚡
Few modern dressage stallions have a name quite as fitting as Ampère. With his expressive movement, natural balance and influential pedigree, this striking bay KWPN stallion has left a significant mark on European dressage breeding. And in 2026, his contribution was formally recognized when the KWPN awarded him the prestigious Keur predicate.
🌟 Born to Shine
Ampère was born in the Netherlands in 2005, bred by A.T. Rensen. His pedigree combines two highly regarded Dutch dressage bloodlines: Rousseau x Flemmingh. His dam, Larivola, is a Keur daughter of Flemmingh, while his sire Rousseau was himself a successful young dressage horse and silver medallist at the 2003 World Breeding Championships for Young Dressage Horses.
Ampère quickly showed that his pedigree wasn't simply impressive on paper. Presented under the name Ajong, he became the 2008 KWPN Stallion Licensing Champion in ’s-Hertogenbosch. 🏆
💫 Exceptional Movement
Later that year, Ampère delivered an outstanding performance at the KWPN Stallion Performance Test in Ermelo.
His scores tell the story:
🚶 Walk: 8.0
💃 Trot: 9.0
🚀 Canter: 9.5
✨ Elasticity: 9.0
⚖️ Posture & balance: 8.5
🤝 Rideability & attitude: 9.0
🏅 Dressage talent: 9.0
The result was a superb 88.5-point total. The KWPN's official report describes Ampère as willing to work, trainable and naturally balanced, with an especially powerful, uphill canter and an active hind leg.
🧬 Rousseau x Flemmingh: Dressage Royalty
Ampère's pedigree helps explain those qualities.
Rousseau brought performance credentials and influential Dutch blood through Ferro, while maternal grandsire Flemmingh became internationally respected as a dressage sire. Flemmingh produced numerous successful horses, including famous sons such as Krack C and Lingh.
The combination gave Ampère the type of qualities breeders seek in a modern dressage horse: expression, elasticity, balance and powerful movement. 🌟
👑 A Lasting Breeding Legacy
Ampère's influence continued through his offspring. The KWPN database lists approved first-generation sons including Electron, Franklin, All At Once, Fellini and Joyride. Its breeding records currently show 520 registered offspring through 2026.
The KWPN has also noted Ampère's broad impact on European breeding and the presence of his descendants at inspections and international championships.
Then came another milestone. 🎖️
At the 2026 KWPN Stallion Show, Ampère was officially declared Keur, alongside United, All At Once and Ferguson. Remarkably, All At Once represents Ampère's own legacy as both father and son received the distinction.
From licensing champion to influential sire, Ampère (Rousseau x Flemmingh) has built a legacy founded on movement, rideability and unmistakable dressage quality. ⚡🐎
Ampère by name. Electrifying by nature.
