A new ingredient for your kitchens! Pepita miso, made from roasted organic hullless pumpkin seeds grown in the Finger Lakes in NY- about 30 minutes from my hometown. Sometimes we talk about a “sweet” miso - sweet in the sense that it has slightly lower salt, shorter fermentation- which yields a sweeter note. Pepita miso is this- but additionally, the roasted pumpkin seeds give us a different kind of sweetness, almost a frangipane quality. Absolutely fantastic broth miso, but also one that would be excellent for baking applications, or any dish that has a sweet-salty balance. Check out the Persian dish Shish Andaz, one of the first things we added this miso to. We’re really excited to hear your feedback. And, as always, refrigerate your miso.

REFRIGERATE YOUR MISO.

Miso is not perishable, strictly speaking. All of our miso has fermented for months at room temperature. However, we do not pasteurize or treat the miso with ethyl alcohol to stabilize it, so its quality will suffer in warm, uncontrolled conditions.

This is a refrigerated product that will ship cold via 2-day shipping and should be refrigerated upon arrival. See our FAQ page on our website for further details.

Sorghum molasses pumpkin cheesecake ice box pie! It’s a mouthful. The best mouthful.
A little early birthday celebration for Isaiah-this icebox pie comes together in three parts (all plant-based if you roll that way!): sorghum molasses crinkles, made with our sweet potato hoisin, layered with fig caramel made with new fig and leaf vinegar to add a hint of sharpness, and no-bake pumpkin “cheesecake” again with sweet potato hoisin- overnight in the fridge they melt together to create one of the more texturally pleasing treats around. One of those simple and kind of messy desserts that ends up completely perfect. Recipe and technique in story! (Or dm and I’ll send it directly- it’s kind of a long recipe but easy!)
