MDGA Member Reminder: Buying & Selling Registered Goats 🐐

A few extra minutes when completing paperwork can save weeks of delays later! Here’s a friendly reminder for anyone buying or selling MDGA-registered goats.

🐐 Sellers

Before your goat leaves for its new home:
✅ Complete the transfer section at the bottom of the registration certificate.
✅ Include the buyer’s name.
✅ Sign and date the certificate.

This signed section serves as the bill of sale needed to transfer ownership.

If the goat has not yet been transferred into your name:
• You must provide your buyer with a separate bill of sale.
• The registration certificate should also show the transfer from the previous recorded owner to you, creating a complete chain of ownership.

🐐 Buyers

Before completing your purchase:
✅ Check that your name is written in the buyer section.
✅ Verify the seller has signed and dated the registration certificate.

If the seller is not the current recorded owner listed on the certificate:
• The previous owner’s transfer to the seller must be completed on the certificate.
• You should also receive a separate bill of sale from the seller to establish the chain of ownership.

📬 When Submitting Transfer Paperwork

Please make sure the following information for the buyer is included and easy to read:
• Full name
• Mailing address
• Email address
• Phone number

These small steps make a big difference in helping us transfer your goats into your name as quickly and accurately as possible. We appreciate your cooperation and thank you for helping us maintain accurate registration records.

**Update: Forever Homed** Rosita the sweetheart. Momma’s mini 💕me. Her siblings were all picked up and she’s hoping to find her forever family to call her own very soon. She loves playing with the bigger dogs and keeps them on their toes. She’s doing well at house training and follows momma out to do business. Rosita has started crate training as well and willingly takes naps there comfortably when not sleeping on a lap as an office puppy. To fill out an adoption questionnaire send us a message!

National Dairy Month is a time to celebrate the animals, farmers, and families who help provide wholesome dairy products to communities across the country.

At the Miniature Dairy Goat Association, we are especially proud of the hardworking Miniature Dairy Goats that combine efficiency, versatility, and wonderful personalities. Whether you enjoy fresh milk, create homemade cheeses and soaps, participate in milk testing programs, or simply appreciate these amazing animals, National Dairy Month is a great opportunity to recognize the value dairy goats bring to small farms and homesteads.

Miniature dairy goats prove that good things truly do come in smaller packages. Their manageable size, productive milk output, and friendly nature make them a favorite for families, homesteaders, youth exhibitors, and dairy enthusiasts alike.
