He is so easy going. I’m learning during this process that the c**ts that aren’t messed with at all are not only the most rewarding but they have no bad habits or fears learned from human interaction. I thought I got lucky with my first untouched c**t Paybackk years ago, but Forester has made me realize it’s simply not luck, just a clean blank slate to work with. Very much enjoy this process.

New resell project on the farm. Coming 2 yo cowbred bay gelding. Came from Missouri not handled. Smart and willing, just unsure. I have really started in on the ground work today. Standing tied at the tree, being around “scary” objects and staying calm. Leading (not sure he was halter broke before last week when my sister got him, brother in law started getting him use to that, still needs some work) and loading. He’s willing and kind and that’s all we can ask for.

I don’t understand why people breed to breed without intent to get the baby’s handled and ready for their jobs later in life. We have a TON of nice horses that are well past age and know nothing due to just not being messed with…. So here’s hoping he gets going and is well loved years down the road doing a job.

Question is, what do you think of me doing a “series” of getting this sucker going and on the path to his new home?

Thinking of calling him Forrest Gump but maybe Gump for short? Any other name suggestions?
