Did you know Trinidad Coffee is Fair Trade Certifed??
Here's a story of one of the Fair Trade Coffee Farmers:
A local coffee producer hauls coffee sacks on a mule while he rides a horse. ANEI is a Fair Trade Certified coffee cooperative founded in 1995 and certified Fair Trade in 1998. It currently has roughly 600 members from 5 different ethnic groups. - Fair Trade

Did you know: "The original definition of coffee means "wine." Coffee's original name, qahwah, came from the Yemen term for wine. In Turkey it was called kahveh, until the Dutch referred to it as koffie, where we get the English coffee." - Good House Keeping

Impacted lives from ANEI: Mairo Geovanni Niño, 32, father of four and indigenous Arawak from Pueblo Bello, holds sun-dried coffee beans. He has been a coffee producer all his life and his father was one of the founding members of the cooperative. Mairo has been a field technician for ANEI since 2001. He states: "I have personally seen the impact of the Fair Trade program as it goes beyond simple economic help. Yes, it has helped us improve production the cooperative and producer levels, but one support that the premium cannot quantify is at the cultural and organizational level. For example, some of the premium has been used for general assemblies and as ANEI works in four indigenous territories, it has strongly helped preserve our culture through these meetings where we brainstorm, exchange ideas, and motivate one another. For us Arawaks, the rules of Fair Trade have been easy to follow since our culture already matches many of themes: no discrimination, democratic methods, solidarity, protection of the environment. So we not only grow economically, but as people and a society as well. Indigenous peoples started ANEI in the region, and either through our example, or later through the organization and the Fair Trade Certification, the issue of protecting the environment has finally become mainstream here, something we all strive for."

Give our Hawaii Kona Blend a try!

"Hawaii is the only state in the U.S. that commercially grows coffee...Because coffee grows best in climates along the equator, Hawaii's weather is optimal for harvesting coffee beans." - Good House Keeping.

Did you know Trinidad Coffee is Fair Trade Certifed??
Here's a story of one of the Fair Trade Coffee Farmers:
"Bosingwa Maria started farming in 1974 and she says that after her husband died in the war she poured her heart into her coffee trees. Coffee was her family's sole source of income, and she had to make it profitable. She joined the cooperative in 2000, and with the increased income she has received from her Fair Trade coffee over the years, she has been able to bring running water to her home and invest in solar panels on her roof. She hopes to bring electricity to her house soon.

She has also been able to diversify her family's nutrition. They used to eat potatoes and beans everyday with no change, and they could not afford food at the market or oil for cooking. Now her family is able to buy food from the market and they do not have to solely rely on growing everything they eat." - Fair Trade USA
