Making a surprise bridal bouquet for my sweet friend! 🌸

This is our cover crop! We mowed down our flowers early to plant a mix of soil-fixing cover crop of buckwheat and sudangrass. After getting our soil tested and working with an agronomist, we are on track to helping build up our soil and create a healthy balance at our farm.

Each plant impacts the soil differently and the point of these cover crops is to add nutrients back into the soil, break up compaction, and add organic matter. We’re using our two-wheeled, Italian tractor, a Grillo, and an attachment called a Flail mower to finely chop up the plants so they can be terminated at the right stage and turned into mulch.

Tomorrow (Saturday) is our LAST farmers market of the season! Come by Downtown Bloomington Farmers’ Market 7:30-12:00 to treat yourself to some fresh blooms before this little family flower farm bops out for the season 🌸👩‍🌾

We will have Deluxe bouquets, Standard mixes, hydrangea bunches, gomphrena, zinnias & cosmos bunches, some bud vases & a few dried flower bouquets to get you through until next April when we are back!
