We've freeze-dried everything! Meat, cheese, meals, fruits, veggies, desserts, mushrooms...

It's a pretty neat process and a fantastic way to preserve food. 🤗

Here are our three favorite foods we grow and then freeze dry: 🍅, 🍇, 🍐 , 😋

What's your favorite freeze dried food? 🤔

What do you start your seeds in? 🤔

From our rabbitry to the finished product!🤗

Pretty neat to be a part of it all.🐰

What would/do you make with rabbit fur? 🤔

Homesteading sure does teach us that life is closely connected with death.

Watching Louise return back nature is a humbling experience. We thought we'd share it with you!

What do you think about this?🤔

Would you put the pigs in the woods?? 🐖

It's a pretty special project- packing down a pond for us to help increase our water supply (as we are 100% dependent on rainwater!). But at the risk of their little piggy lives... maybe not. 🫣

We never used to have excess pasture, but with most of our sheep rehomed, we opened up a few to the pigs! And boy, are they happy! 🥳

We can't let these goodies go to waste! We've heard of some folks making bl00d sausage, but we prefer to compost these bits. 🌱

Instead of buying fertilizer, our garden gets a heavy dose of Mountain In The Mist compost each growing season. Happy plants!🤗

What do you do on your homestead? 🤔

We are so fortunate to be able to partner with the local food pantry warehouse and scoop up all of this food (every week!).🤯

It's expired and the warehouse only has a few days to give it to people, by law. And after that- to the garbage it goes.🫣

That's where we come in!! 🥳

Any questions? Drop them below! 😁

We even have a sign that says "Handmade goods from our homestead!" As well as photos of some of our critters hanging up. 😅

Which question caught you most off guard?🤔

05/26/2026

We learned this the hard way when we first started with meat rabbits.😢

As tempting as it may be to continue to breed in the summer, kits cannot regulate their body temperature in the heat. They overheat and die quickly. 🐰

We've noticed our rabbits don't enjoy days over 80 degrees, and we've been selecting breeders that can tolerate days in the 90s 🌞

Do you do take a break breeding this time of year? 🤔 Any questions? Drop them below!
