Hello friends of Circle Back Farm. The honeybees at Circle Back Farm had a very productive, if not a little challenging, year at the farm. Bees are completely dependent on all the variables that ebb and flow in the natural world. This year the clover produced very little usable nectar for the bees, the peaches and nectarines barely bloomed, and our wonderful locusts produced very little pollen.
But honeybees are awesome. They don't stop working just because it's hard. When brood and queens need to be tended, they find a way. And boy did they! This year the bees exploited acres of native wildflowers that we planted , apple blossoms, and everything else they could find, to produce a slightly darker, sweetly floral honey that I think real honey eaters will love.
This years harvest gift box includes...
- 1 pound of pure, raw and unfiltered Circle Back Farm honey.
-12 oz. of delicious creamed honey (a favorite!)
-12 oz of smoky habanero honey.
I grew my own habaneros this year and smoked them before dehydrating them to infuse. Really adds something nice to pizza, fish, chicken and BBQ! I think it came out really nice. I hope you agree!
- I also added lavender to the mix and grew it at the farm (a little sample in the sachet)and hope to experiment with it to flavor some honey next year.
