Hawk's Shadow Winery is located deep in the Texas Hill Country, and yet is just 30 miles from South Congress Avenue in downtown Austin. Hawk’s Shadow Winery was built and is run with the same hardworking spirit of those who first carved a life from the limestone encrusted plateaus of Central Texas. This uniquely Texan terroir produced men and women of strong character and uniqueness, qualities whi

ch are found in the vines and grapes grown on the estate. Hawk's Shadow Winery is crafting a select portfolio of Texas wines featuring our own estate varietals, and warm-climate grapes carefully chosen from Texas growers. When you arrive at Hawk's Shadow, you will have a commanding view of the Lower Estate Vineyard, and the broad expanse of nature preserves, ranches and watersheds east of the Pedernales Falls State Park. The wine tasting at Hawk's Shadow features sampling of our finished wines in bottle, including the 2011 Orange Muscat, a dry white gaining critical favor, and the new 2011 HSV Estate Red, crafted from varietals from our own vineyards. We also have several wines in barrel, tank and various stages of evolution, featured in our barrel sample tasting. Try the same grape varietal as it evolves in different types of oak, and you will pick up on aromatic qualities and flavor nuances in the wine as it moves from harvest, to cellar, to bottle. Harvest season is officially here, and tomorrow morning we are picking our gorgeous Tempranillo. We’re looking for a crew of energetic volunteers to help us harvest at Hawk’s Shadow Vineyard. Get a behind-the-scenes look at the winemaking process, and enjoy a beautiful Texas sunrise in the vines.

Get ready for an incredible evening of music at Hawk's Shadow Winery! We are thrilled to welcome back the Australian epic folk band, The Heart Collectors, on May 23rd at 5:00 PM. This event is free to attend and is guaranteed to be a great time for everyone. We will have bottle service and charcuterie and cheese trays available for purchase. If you have a specific picnic in mind, you are more than welcome to bring your own food. Today was supposed to be all about the vines. We filmed some aerial footage of the upper vineyard and went down a row to capture the progress of our fruit set. It’s a vital time of year, and we wanted you to see the foundation of our next vintage.

But as we were getting ready to post... a surprise arrived!

Stick around to the end of our vineyard update to meet our brand new c**t, born early this rainy morning. He’s healthy, happy, and definitely one of the cutest thing we’ve ever grown at Hawk’s Shadow.
