Whistling Chicken

Whistling Chicken The Whistling Chicken is a hobby gone wild! We are simply lovers of "all things chicken". First, they have to be beautiful.

The Whistling Chicken consists of me and my husband, Ed and Cindy Lukacevic. We also own a real business...one that we work full time, Dinovite, where we make natural and organic pet products (supplements, shampoo, flea repellent, treats). At the Whistling Chicken, we have two criteria for the chickens that live here. I want to be able to look out at my farm and see beauty! Second, they have to be

"good for something". We raise chickens that are good for eggs, meat or simply a good laugh (like our single pair of Polish chickens). I guess there's a third criteria as well...we don't raise flighty, aggressive breeds. All of our chickens are laid back and friendly, even our roosters!

Some of the eggs that are in the incubator! Due around May 23rd. Who needs chicks? (We sell our quick!)

Who loves treating their feathered friends? I know I do! This is so helpful in knowing what is good for them.

So, when you think of your "gotta have" list, which chickens are on it? Do you think of hatching eggs, chicks, full grown? Do you choose pretty eggs, pretty chickens, bantams, full sized? Do you choose for personality, color, history? Heritage breeds, odd looking breeds, rare breeds?
