Swarms with virgin queens are a hassle . They are very undecided and re - cluster a time or two. Eventually they usually figure out what they want to do and split into two or more Swarms if you wait long enough. They can make a huge swarm until they decide what they are going to do.

First swarm of the year. They clustered in a spruce tree. Caught them and started a new hive 21. Then made three more colonies in addition to the original hive.

The Santa Rosa plum is blossomed. The Honey Bees are working on it quite heavily.

I was curious about a hive that seemed weak so I took a peak and found the first QUEEN of the year. The hive is weak but I think that when the weather gets consistently warmer they will kick it in to high gear.

The Honey Bees are finding quite a bit of natural pollen today. They decided to take a short cut and enter the hives from the seams between the boxes .

Started feeding pollen patties at one of my out yards today. There was bees working hard when I got there. They were finding pollen from something and hauling loads of it in to the hives. Not as good this time as it was last check there. Out of the 24 hives that were alive last check I lost 3. Gave each of the live ones a pollen patty and installed 2 hive beetle traps. Should hold them until the pollen is more abundant.
