Back Creek Wagyu

Back Creek Wagyu Forged by seven generations of Virginia grit, we proudly raise hormone- and steroid-free Wagyu. Even though he did not find his brother, he did find love.

Our herd thrives on lush grasses and natural spring water, producing some of the finest Full Blood Wagyu beef available. The Hoge family settled in Southwest Virginia in 1767 when James Mayo Hoge initially traveled from Northern Virginia to find his brother, who was fighting in the French-Indian War. James Mayo and Elizabeth Howe married, built a stone cabin on the adjacent property to where Eliz

abeth lived and named it Hayfield. Governor J. Hoge Tyler, who inherited the property, named it Belle-Hampton after his daughter, Belle, and Sue Hampton Tyler. Soon after his youngest daughter passed away, the Governor moved his family to Radford, leaving it uninhabited for almost 100 years, except for summer visits. The property remained abandoned, with the land leased to run cattle as a means to maintain the pastures until 2015, when it was purchased by the current owners, seventh-generation family descendants of the property.
