After quite a bit of trauma, my prune plum tree 🌳 (part of branching out Dubuque project), shows resilience! Thanks to A.j. Shultz Laurana Snyder
They jumped in and rescued it after it was taken down by a storm earlier this year. I found it down while on my way out to Mayo Clinic appointment after waiting out the storm ☔️ and felt so lucky again to have the best persons to reach out to.

It took a lot of tomatoes to make a sauce for 375 people, but we did it. We sourced small local producers all from our Dubuque Farmers' Market including our own CGF 🍅🥰

This is Rooted Table kitchen day prep one. Friday. CGF garlic 🧄 and oregano 🌿 we adopted from Sandhill farm 💚
We made an her oil with it from our Midwest antipasti platter.

🌿🍅🍝 Rooted Table preparations have officially been underway since yesterday!

And, as always, our wonderful volunteers showed up full of energy and ready to get to work; chopping, slicing, mixing, washing, picking fresh herbs, shaping meatballs, and doing all the little things it takes to prepare a meal for hundreds of people.

All while having fun, enjoying the process, and sharing the joy that comes from our love of food, community, and being of service to others.

Rooted Table, here we come! 🌱🍽️

seasonal potato dough dumplings filed with the same type of plums I use for the Polish plum cake. Thanks to Laurana Snyder we were able to identify this fruit tree as prune plum. Not only that, she has found it and now thanks to the city program, it’s growing in my front yard!
