It is with sadness that we want to let you know we will no longer be selling Christmas trees at our farm. Life changes and our young guys have full-time jobs now, tractor driver Joe is turning 80 this month and Santa Joe is not in good health. We miss our Christmas tree family and wish all of you happy tree hunting and a wonderful Christmas!

We would like to thank all of you who have come to our farm to choose your Christmas since 2001! We missed seeing you last year after the barn blew down. There were many fun, family memories made in that barn!
Our new barn is finally finished on the outside but we are still waiting on the electrician who should be here next week.
Unfortunately, we will not be selling trees again this year.
We have a difficult decision to make before next year. Although my son Joe and I want to continue to sell trees, we have lost most of our help to age and health issues or other jobs. We will no longer be able to continue the choose and cut experience in the field because those trees have been depleted. If anyone has any creative suggestions, please let us know!
We want to wish all of you a “Happy Thanksgiving and a Merry Christmas!” We hope you can find a fun tree experience at another farm this year. I invite you to text or email us photos of your family at the farm and I will post them once or twice a week through the holiday season! Peace to all! We miss you!

Friends and family, we will not be able to sell Christmas trees this season due to the loss of our barn over the summer. We are considering opening again for trees in 2018 after the new barn is built. Thank you for your support and understanding. Please let us know if you have any questions. Happy holidays!

We are excited to announce a few things on our future agenda here at the Bahl Family Farm!

First of all, we will be replacing the barn that was recently destroyed in the storm with a new structure. In the process of cleaning up the debris, we are attempting to salvage as much as we can. We plan to reuse the salvaged material and incorporate it into the replacement structure. Some of the salvaged material includes wood from the barn, old equipment, and memorabilia from the days of the Pumpkin Festival and Christmas tree sales. Many of you have reached out to us to lend a hand in any way possible and we are so thankful. We wanted to provide the community with a way to help out, and show our gratitude by hosting a cookout event inside of the newly built barn.

BAHL FAMILY FARM BARN COOKOUT

The cookout will be hosted in the new barn and in the barnyard we are familiar with from all those October weekends at the Pumpkin Festival. There will be food, beverages, hay rides, games, music, a brief ceremony dedicating the new barn, and more. We are currently working out the details but would love to hear input for activities! As of now, we don’t have a concrete time frame and we ask for your patience, but we hope to start construction as soon as possible. We will be posting regular updates here on our page as construction progresses. Ideally, we would like to capture the nostalgia of the Pumpkin Festival and host the cookout event on a weekend in October 2018. However, we have our work cut out for us before then!

HOW CAN I HELP?

We’ve come up with four different ways to provide support:

1) While insurance will help us build a new structure to replace the barn, salvaging and restoring historical items from the barn significantly adds to our expenses. We have set up a GoFundMe page with more information if anyone is interested in donating. The link is provided below in this post!

2) Send us your pictures from the farm! If you have any pictures of you or your family at the Pumpkin Festival or getting a Christmas tree, we would love to see them. As part of our thank you for all the years of fun at the farm, we want to take all of the pictures we receive and dedicate a wall of your photos in a collage for the new barn. Please include a caption for the photos with names and years if available.

3) Comment or message us your suggestions for what you would like to see from us in the future. As we go through the growing pains of a small local family farm with a staff of 3, we are looking to rebrand ourselves and assess how we can keep the Bahl Family Farm an important and involved part of Dubuque’s history.

4) Share this post! The more people we reach, the bigger impact our friends and families will have on the story of the Bahl Family Farm.

THANK YOU ALL, FROM THE BOTTOM OF OUR HEARTS

We are very thankful for the support from our friends, family, and the community during these difficult times we've faced in the past week. Since Doug passed away and both barns have been destroyed, we have been holding family discussions about what the future of the Bahl Family Farm will look like. We will be making an exciting announcement on our page sometime next week. Like our page and stay tuned for updates!

Not your typical tractor pull. The tractor was on the second floor of the barn when the storm came through. Despite falling through the floor and being buried beneath the wreckage, it's in fairly good shape.

The Bahl Family Farm is now sold out of Christmas trees and closed for the season! We wish you a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

12/16/2016

Today is Friday, Dec. 16th and we have three lonely trees left -
two white pine and one Scotch pine in the 61/2 - 71/2 foot height range. We will only be open by appointment from now on, until these three trees at gone. You may call Joe at 563-451-4427 for an
appointment between noon and 5:00. We wish you a peaceful and happy Christmas!
