We are very happy to have had the opportunity to speak with PRI's The World about ways to help pollinators.

Honey bees and other pollinators are in big trouble. President Barack Obama wants to help save them with a new protected bee habitat corridor along I-35 spanning the US from Laredo, Texas to Duluth Minnesota. Catherine Winter, who lives in Duluth and keeps bees herself, tracked down some other bee enthusiasts to talk about the president's plan and their own efforts to protect the pollinators that help feed us all.

In celebration of Bee Arrival Day we are posting this link to the University of MN Bee Lab's page of free information. The Bee Lab is a great source of information for anyone interested in beekeeping. It's a beautiful day for the girls to arrive and we'll be working late to get them in their homes.

Lake Superior Honey Company is in the process of transitioning to a business model with a focus on education, pollinator health, and sustainability. Because of this we are reducing the number of our production apiaries. The result of this reduction is a surplus of new and used equipment. All equipment is ours and used less than three years. Most equipment used less than two seasons. We have had no instances of disease in any of our apiaries.
