Sometimes you're out amid the critters, and you notice one that just has that spark...the "look".

We'll be keeping an eye on this NZ buckling as he progresses.

It's gratifying to see good results from crossing a bloodline from your herd's beginnings with a strong new buck.

Last summer (2024), we added CBO Megawatt's Iron Hammer (with thanks to Chuck Osborne) to our operation. A few weeks later, he met his first batch of does - mostly first fresheners.

Five months later, here are a few of his first offspring, and we couldn't be happier.

Had some first-class help today, making hay while the (hot) sun shines. Kathryn says we should keep this one - that she wanted to inspect after the baler kicked it out.

Of course, you have to sell some to offset production costs.

These 100° + days sure have beautiful skies.

With the importance of herdsire(s) well understood and appreciated, we've been looking for months for the right fit and balance.

Yesterday, we ended our search with a young buck from Chuck Osborne 's program. Chuck was most helpful and patient, providing details and anecdotes that reflect years of Kiko experience.

Our new guy is of a pairing repeated several times over the past 5 years, resulting in many high-performing animals. Proven parents were a key criteria.

We'd like to thank Chuck for helping us make this choice, and we look forward to seeing CBO Cobalt Blue's influence in our herd.
