Sad to see Creekside, one of the areas iconic, independent restaurants close its doors after so many years of success. Frank and Lezly Lingenfelter, owners, did a great job in reviving the restaurant with an updated menu and cosmetic improvements. Sadly, the business, in the end, was a victim to the dimished employee pool that has arisen after Covid. We wiish the best to Frank, Lezly, and all the employees of Creekside and thank them for their years of loyalty to WSLEE. They were steadfast in the belief to work and suppport other local, independent businesses.

Alan Rickens. Sadly saying Goodbye to one of nicest, greatest ambassadors for W. S. LEE. Alan worked for W. S. LEE & Sons for many years. We knew him when he was a customer, as managers of both The Keg and Butcher Block, and Arthur Treachers, Altoona. Starting as a Sales Trainee, his hard work earned him promotions, moving up to Territorial Sales Manager and finally District Manager. In later years, he continued in Foodservice for Carnegie Equipment, and then Feeser Foods. Recently, even as a competitor, we continued to forge an alliance with Alan in the distibution of product. Alan was a great person, friend, and ally to all who knew him. If one word can describe a person, then Kind, would describe Alan, as he was one of the kindest persons one could know. Go Bless.

It is with great sadness that we have learned of the passing of our dear friend and comrade, Asher Sky. Sky Brothers and W. S. LEE & Sons were the premier independent food distributors in Central Pennsylvania for many, many years. Each started as a small localized family business in Altoona, and grew to be leaders in the industry. Although the companies battled throughout those years for many of the same local clientel, there was always mutual respect and admiration between them, and between owners - the Lee and Sky/Port families. Asher, CEO, along his brother Phil, and cousin Neil Port, lead Sky Brothers on a terrific journey, unlimately being recgognized twice as The GDO(Great Distributor Organization), the highest honnor among national foodservice distribution firms, before the sale of Sky Brothers to the Sara Lee Corproation in 1986.

In 1997, Asher Sky joined W. S. LEE & Sons as part of the Senior Management Team in the capacity of Direcor of Sales. Asher quickly gained the trust and admiration of those around him, while providing insight and leadership to help lead the company through significant growth years.

Asher Sky, from foe, to comrade and friend, we will always remember you fondly, and your legacy will live on. Rest in Peace our Dear Friend.
